Jaguar Key Fob Battery Replacement: When to Know

You can determine if you need a Jaguar key fob battery replacement in one of two ways. If you have a newer Jaguar model, your Message Center will send you an alert saying that your “smart key battery is low.” You may also notice that the range of effectiveness of the fob reduces pretty quickly. 

Open Your Jaguar Key Fob

You can open your Jaguar key fob up to replace the battery by following these tips:

1. Remove your Jaguar key cover by pressing a button on the side of your fob to release the cover.
2. Slide it back and pull it off. By doing so, you’ll expose your emergency key.
3. Turn the key so that it points in the same direction as the arrow.
4. Remove it and use it to pry the key fob body off of the panel that conceals the battery.

Jaguar Key Fob Replacement: After You Open Jaguar Key Fob

Now that you have the key fob opened up, be sure you have a replacement CR2032 battery ready. This is the type of battery your Jaguar key fob utilizes. Once the Jaguar key fob cover is off, here’s the process for replacement: 

1. Take the old battery out. As you do so, press the upper positive terminal until it touches the negative grid. After recovering the terminal position, the positive contact should be firmly with the upper terminal.
2. Put your new battery in with the positive side turned upward. Then, put your key fob back together. 
3. If your vehicle has passive entry, wait 10 minutes for the battery to recharge before you test your smart key out.
